Ten Day Selfdrive Holiday in New Zealand

New Zealand is a popular tourist destination, being a land of lakes, rivers, mountains, beaches, forests and thermal activity, not to forget the major cities and small towns, all with their own attractions. There is something for everyone, from outdoor adventure, sport, beautiful scenery, history, art, theatre and shopping. Cafes and coffee shops offer great refreshments, as do the local meats, seafood and wines.

It is easy to make the mistake of spending just a week in New Zealand and many tourists regret this decision once here, saying they'd never realise there was so much to see and do. This is a suggested itinerary for ten days in New Zealand. Pick up a rental car and make the most of the trip. Remember though, that in New Zealand cars drive on the left side of the road. There will be many other things to do, as equally as good as the ones suggested here, as unfortunately some fantastic parts of the country will be missed, even in ten days.

Fly into Auckland and plan to spend two nights in the area. By making the central city your base it will be easy to make decisions as to where you will go and how you'll spend your time.

Two days in Auckland won't enable you to see everything, but you can explore your options by picking up information booklets rom one of the Information Centres or the hotel you are staying at. A drive across the Harbour bridge to the North Shore beaches or a ferry trip across the harbour is always popular.
